Procedure for impeachment of the President.

Article 61 of the Indian Constitution provides for the process of impeachment to remove the President of India. According to Article 56 (b) of the constitution, the President can be removed by imposing impeachment for violation of the constitution. Article 61 is the procedure in relation to the impeachment of the President.

Impeachment can be brought in any House of Parliament. The resolution must be signed by at least 1/4 of the members of that House. It is necessary to inform the President 14 days in advance by the House. The resolution needs to be passed by a minimum of 2/3 of the members of that House. The resolution passed is referred to as the other House. The second house conducts a preliminary inquiry. President himself or a person appointed by him
