Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana Health (PM-JAY SEHAT)

Prime Minister Modi will launch Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY SEHAT to provide health coverage to all residents of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. 

The main objective of the scheme:-

- Its objective is to provide protection from financial risk and to provide quality and safety to all individuals and communities.

Key points about the scheme:-

- To ensure affordable essential health services.

- This scheme provides free insurance cover to all residents of Jammu and Kashmir.

- It provides financial assistance of up to 5 lakh rupees per family on a floater basis to all the residents of Jammu and Kashmir.

- It will cover about 1.5 million families. 



Important features of the scheme:-


Beneficiaries have been selected on the basis of SECC, 2011. About 10 crores fall under this category. 

JAM is being used for better targeting of beneficiaries.

It includes the Pre-Operated National Health Insurance Scheme (RSBY) and Senior Citizen Health Insurance scheme (SCHIS) has been merged.

It is a centrally sponsored scheme in which the center-state ratio of contribution is 60:40. The North Eastern States and 3 Himalayan states have a ratio of 90:10.

National Health Protection Mission Agency (AB-NHPMA) was formed to manage the scheme. 

2000 crore was initially allocated for this scheme.

Private hospitals can also be benefited from this scheme.
