Luhri river project launched in Himachal Pradesh

Luhri Hydroelectric Project

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved 1810.56 crore rupees Investment proposal  for the first phase of the 210 MW capacity Luhri Hydroelectric Project located at sutluj river in Kullu and Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh. 

The project will generate 758.20 million power units per year.

Important Key Points about the Luhri Project

This project is based on Ownership-Operations-Maintenance (Build-on-Operate-Maintenance-BYOM) being implemented by Sutlej Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited.

This project will help in grid stability and power supply will be improved. 

The time period of this project is 40 years and this gives Himachal Pradesh free electricity of value of Rs 1140 crores.

100 units of free electricity every month for next 10 years to be provided to the families affected by this project.
