'Golden Jubilee Fellowship'


Recently 21 scientists have been selected by the Central Government for the 'Golden Jubilee Fellowship'. Among these scientists, professors working in higher educational institutions, scientists working in important government undertakings etc. are included. 

Objective of the program

The objective of this scheme is to provide necessary support to scientists for basic research in the field of science and technology.

About the scheme

'Swarna Jayanti Fellowship Scheme' was launched to commemorate the 50th year of India's independence.

Under this scheme, the selected scientists get Rs. 25,000 per month for 5 year by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. The fellowship is provided in addition to the pay from their parent institutions. 

Also subsidies are provided for various devices, computational facilities, consumables, contingencies, national and for international travel and other special needs. 


Efforts and major schemes being conducted to promote research in India:

Prestigious Institution Scheme of Ministry of education will give boost to research work in higher educational institutions of the country. 

Through Imprint India higher educational institutions IITS / IIMs have been chosen to conduct research in various fields. 

India's gross expenditure in research and development increased nearly three times during 2008 to 2018.

National Super Computing Mission to increase technical capacity while to promote innovation programs like Atal Innovation Mission, Atal Tickering Lab have been started.
