The characteristics of Malwa painting.

-Malvi Folk Painting- M.P. The districts of Indore, Ujjain, Dewas, Sehore, Ratlam, Mandsaur, Raisen, etc. are included in the Malwa region. Most of the folk paintings in Malwa are made by the women of the house. The following forms of Malwa folk painting are popular -

1 Chitravan- These paintings are made by 'Chitre' caste. In which pictures of band-instruments, palanquins, horsemen, elephant-groom, bride, Parvati, Ganesh and Shivji are carved on the walls of the house and temples.

2 Mandane - On Diwali or any other mangical occasion, the walls and floors of the house are dipped with cow dung and yellow clay, and artistic mandanas are made by ocher and white alabaster soil.

3. Rangoli- On a special occasion or celebration, the women of the house make rangoli with gulal or dry colors.

Shapes of Sanja - In Shraddha Paksha, virgin girls make and worship Sanja's figures on the walls of the house with cow dung, flowers and leaf. On the 15th day all Pitra Amavasya is immersed in the shapes of Sanja in a river or pond.

5 Henna Shapes - Henna has a special practice in the Malwa region. Here, various shapes are made from henna on the body in normal condition along with special occasion.

6. Gumming- There is also a prevalence in the Malwa region of tilting the glue on the body.
