Recently, 4.39 crore fake ration cards issued since 2013 have been canceled by the government to identify the right beneficiaries under the National Food Security Act (NFSA). 

What is National Food Security Act? 

National Food Security Act was a historic initiative of the UPA-2 government, through which the public Nutritional food and nutritional security are being ensured.

Important key points about the national food security act, 2013


2 per kg Wheat and 3 rupees per kg rice will be provided to the poor people under the National Food Security Act, 2013. 
Kg Arrangements have been made to provide rice.

It covers 75% rural population and 50% urban population. 


35 kg food per family to the poorest families included in Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY). 

Month supply is maintained unchanged i.e. a fixed amount of food or grain is provided in a month. 


Under this law, there is a provision that the beneficiaries should get the food grains prescribed for them, in case of non-supply of food grains, the rule of payment of food security allowance provision has been made.
