Why in news? 

Larsen & Toubro Delivered Booster Segment (Booster for Rocket Engine) to ISRO for Gaganyaan Mission, which is the first hardware given for this mission. The company delivered it before the scheduled time.

Some important facts about Gaganyaan Mission

Gaganyaan is India's first man space mission.

This mission was announced by the Prime Minister of India on August 2018. 

GSLVMK-3 launch vehicle will be used to launch the Gaganyaan. 

A target has been set to complete the mission by the year 2022 and the cost of this mission is about Rs. 10,000 crore.

Gaganyaan will include a crew module, service module and orbital module, which weighs about 7 tons and will be sent by a rocket.

This spacecraft will be placed in a low earth orbit of 300-400 km. 

Two empty Gaganyaan missions will be sent before sending humans.
